OUR INSPIRATION
By Leesah Marie Noon
In January 2012, Lawrence Alden “Larry” Day passed away suddenly at the age of 48. Larry left behind two adorable children, elderly parents, a brother and many other family members. Larry was a dear friend of mine whom I shared countless gut-belly laughs with since high school. He was a kind and loyal friend, and also admired tremendously by his co-workers and clients of the Microsoft® organization.
Larry was the first person close to me that I had lost. Shortly after his passing, I drew his portrait to help comfort his parents. I also provided prints to his children, brother, nieces, extended family members and each of our mutual friends. Larry's parents loved the portrait, but their immense grief prevented them from displaying it in their home. I completely understood, but was left feeling quietly determined to discover a new and special way for comforting the bereaved.
A few months later while in Florida, I was blessed with my first Cardinal Experience. Although the photograph is quite blurry, this incredible moment will remain clear in my mind forever.
After returning to my home in Pennsylvania, I was blessed by another red cardinal, which was the very first one I had ever seen near my home! I immediately thought about my friend, Larry and my heart smiled. This was the exact moment my heart and mind collided with a vision for how I could comfort others who have suffered the loss of someone special.
Red cardinals provide spiritual comfort for your soul.
I began writing and capturing photographs for my spiritual and inspirational gift book, Caring Cardinals: Nature's Gift for Inner Peace. This was an enormous challenge for me as I had no experience with writing or photography. Fortunately, my passion guided me all along the way while capturing daily cardinal photos throughout each season. Artist Jim Shore had an opportunity to view my book and graciously penned its beautiful and heartfelt Foreword. I was incredibly excited to share Caring Cardinals with my father who was an extraordinary professional photographer. Sadly, I lost my father unexpectedly shortly before the book was published. Although he never had the chance to enjoy it, my heart remains full knowing that many others will.
As time went on, my vision evolved into so much more which eventually led to CARING CARDINALS®. During the past eight years I have developed a very special website, several social media Pages and numerous cardinal gifts. No one is immune from losing someone they love, which is why I created my book and gifts for men, women and children.
My the sole purpose will always mirror that of Caring Cardinals®, which is to provide comfort and inspiration through one of God’s most magnificent creatures – the cardinal.
